English Translation of the his Master Piece ‘Talbis Iblis’

    Author: Imam Ibn Al-Jawzi

The author enumerates within it, many of the mechanisms and modus operandi used by the devil in deceiving and leading mankind away from the Straight Path. It is of particular value and importance because only by unearthing and accentuating some of the traps of the devil, can mankind avoid them as well as navigate others away from falling prey to his harm. Speaking about the devil and his plotting, the author wrote that:

[gn_quote]He was only able to do so while creeping during the night of ignorance. Had the dawn of knowledge shone on him, he would have been exposed. Thus I decided to warn from his plots for identifying evil is a form of warning from it.[/gn_quote]

    Compiled by: Shawana A. Aziz

Sheikh Saleh al-Fawzan writes in Mujmal Aqeedah as-Salaf:

[gn_quote]Many groups have been misled in their understanding of Qadar (Predestination/Divine Decree). From them are the Jahmiyah and the Jabriyah who claim that the slave is forced in his actions and he has no control, ability or will. He is like a feather or a leaf which is blown by the wind.

Another group went to the other extreme and declared that every man creates his own actions. Allah has no will or control in the slave’s action. The slave performs his actions by his choice and power that is independent of the Will of Allah. Some of them exaggerated to the extent that they said that Allah does not know the thing before it occurs…

The first group (Jabriyah) affirmed the Divine Decree and exaggerated (in their affirmation of Allah’s Will) and thus robbed the slave from his will.

The second group (Qadariyah) exaggerated in (their affirmation of) the slave’s will until they denied the Will and Decree of Allah.

Both these groups are greatly mistaken and misguided.

The Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah is on the middle path – they affirm ability, choice and will for the slave but it is subservient to the Will and Power of Allah and the slave cannot do anything except by the Will of Allah.

    [/gn_quote]

This booklet gives the reader a thorough understanding of how the will, choice and ability of the slave are subservient to the Will and Power of Allah in the words of the noble Shaikh Muhammad ibn Saleh al-Uthaimeen (rahimahullah)

Apart from explaining what it means to believe in the Divine Decree, the Sheikh has expansively clarified important issues related to the subject, like Allah’s Will for the occurrence of Kufr despite His Hatred for it.

Explanation of additional issues like – the sinner’s justification by predestination, Is it obligatory upon us to be pleased with what has been decreed? – make the book more comprehensive and beneficial for the reader.

We ask Allah to forgive our mistakes and make us amongst those who are patient and pleased with the Decree of Allah. Ameen.

A Critical Analysis of Modernists and Hadeeth Rejectors

    Compiled by: Sajid A. Kayum

As Muslims, we are obliged to believe and understand our religion in a manner that Allah wants us to. The way to achieve this is mentioned in the Qur’aan.  Allah says:

    [gn_quote]

And if they believe as you (i.e., the Sahabah) believe then they are rightly guided, but if they turn away, then they are only in opposition.

    [Soorah al-Baqarah (2): 137]

    [/gn_quote]

In light of this verse, the correct understanding is what emulates the beliefs and understandings of the Sahabah (the Prophet’s Companions).

The Sahabah were the fortunate people who accompanied the Prophet (sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) and learned the religion directly from him (sallallahu alehe wa-sallam). They witnessed the revelation of the Qur’aan and the Sunnah and experienced the circumstances in which they were revealed. The Sahabah’s understanding of the religion is therefore, the most pure and perfect, and they are a group that has definitely succeeded in achieving what Faith is meant to achieve, i.e. Allah’s Pleasure.

    [gn_quote]

And the first to embrace Islam of the Muhajirun (those who migrated from Makkah to al-Medina) and the Ansar (the people of al-Madinah who helped the Muhajirun) and also those who followed them exactly (in Faith). Allah is well-pleased with them as they are well-pleased with Him. He has prepared for them Gardens under which rivers flow (Paradise), to dwell therein forever. That is the supreme success.

    [Soorah at-Tawbah (9):100]

    [/gn_quote]

Apathy towards the understanding of the Sahabah as well as free interpretation of Islamic texts are the primary causes of misconceptions and confusion; and consequently straying from the path of the ‘the rightly guided’.

In the first section of this book, we shall critically analyze the Modernists, beginning by understanding the deviations of the Mu’tazilah sect. We shall see with examples:

    [gn_list icon=”icon: check” icon_color=”#a40000″]

    • The rejection of Kalaam by the scholars and Imams of the Muslims
    • The turmoil that the Mutazilah brought upon the Islamic world as a result of their Kalaam and
    • The ill-effects of philosophy on pious and knowledgeable scholars who indulged in it and later abandoned it.

    [/gn_list]

We shall study the views of the ‘Muslim’ rationalists (al-Aqlaniyah), a group that emerged towards the end of the colonial era and found intellectual nourishment in the views of the Mutazilah.

We shall see in this booklet the close resemblance between Christian and Jewish Modernists on one hand, and the ‘Muslim’ modernist and progressives on the other. We shall analyze the views that have become the hallmark of the Modernist call and expose their remoteness from Islam.

We shall comment on the most outrageous antics of present-day ‘progressives’, expose their hatred for Islamic teachings and report on the complete failure of their call.

The second section of this booklet deals with the misguidance of rejecting Hadeeth as this is another malady afflicting all Mu’tazili influenced groups whether the Modernists, the Progressives, the Secularists or the pseudo-Islamists. The refutation focuses upon analyzing the views of three prominent rejecters of Hadeeth; Rashad Khalifah, Ghulam Parvez and Amin Ahsan Islahi.

The two sections of the book greatly complement each other as the modernists and the hadeeth rejecters are two sides of the same coin.

All in all, this booklet should provide a good overview towards understanding the many misguided views that emanate from varied groups influenced by the Mu’tazilah.

Kashf Ash-Shubuhaat (Removal Of The Doubts) – Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Wahhab

    Author: Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Wahhab

[captionpix imgsrc=”http://www.hasbunallaah.com/wp-content/uploads/kashfashshubuhat250.jpg” theme=”chain” width=”200″ align=”center”]This work, which is one of Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Wahhab’s most important works, deals with explaining and refuting the evidences that were used by certain Muslim groups of his time to justify acts of shirk (the act of associating partners with Allah). It is entitled Kashf al-Shubuhat, which literally translates as: ‘The Removal of Doubts’. The legend and the Lion of this Ummah, the Abd al-Wahhab intended in this work to expose the falsity and speciousness of these arguments by proving that the pagans whom the Prophet (saw) fought utilized the exact same arguments and fell prey to the same reasoning as these modern practitioners of shirk did. It is one of the most advanced works on the subject, and over a dozen different arguments and evidences used to justify shirk are presented and then refuted.

  • Exposing Shaytan

    Exposing Shaytan

    [gn_spacer size=”10″]

    Words from the Author:

[gn_quote]Surely, Shaytan is an enemy to you, so take (treat) him as an enemy.
    [Soorah al-Fatir (35): 6][/gn_quote]

It is due to the seriousness of Shaytan’s fitnah (temptation, tribulation, trial) that Allah has distinctly exposed his goals and plots in the Qur’aan. The Prophet (Sallallahu Alehe Wasallam) repeatedly warned against Shaytan’s power to tempt mankind into disobeying Allah. He would relentlessly reveal Shaytan’s trickery and deceit and inform about ways of defense against the accursed.
    [gn_note color=”#a4a195″]

So, what are the deceptions, tricks and strategies of Shaytan?

How does Shaytan enter the human soul and drive it towards sin and transgression?

How does he corrupt people’s hearts and souls by making false promises and arousing high hopes?

Does Shaytan posses the power to force us into committing sins?

To what extent will Shaytan succeed in achieving his goal?

    Can we defeat Shaytan?

    [/gn_note]

This booklet will Insha’Allah, comprehensively answer these baffling questions and dispel many doubts on the subject like why Allah created Shaytan and why Shaytan was granted his request to remain alive until the Day of Judgement.

This booklet will also elaborate upon Aqeedah points that are learnt from the disgraceful story of Shaytan’s failure and from the grievous stories of those who fell into his traps from the nations past.

The last part of this booklet focuses on the means prescribed in the Qur’aan and the Sunnah to dispel Shaytan and protect ourselves and our homes from him.

A number of original Arabic works were referred to in the compilation of this booklet, most importantly; Shaytan – Khutuwatihi wa-Gayatihi by Wail Umar Ali Basheer, Adawatush-Shaytan lil-Insan, Alam al-Jinn, Tafseer al-Kabeer by Abdul-Aziz ibn Abdullah al-Rajhi, Aqeedah at-Tawheed by Shaikh Salih al-Fawzan, Tafseer Ibn Katheer and others.

I hope this booklet will serve as a handy weapon in combating Shaytan and all success lies with Allah.

    [captionpix imgsrc=”http://www.hasbunallaah.com/wp-content/uploads/Sufism-2.jpg” width=”200″]

This compilation is based mainly on critique of Sufism entitled “Ilat-Tasawwuf Ya Ibbadallah,” by ash-Shaikh Abu Bakr al-Djaza’iri, a renowned teacher in the Islamic University in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah, Saudi Arabia, and a preacher in the Prophet’s Masjid there. This booklet is also based on a discourse entitled “al-Anwar ar-Rahmaniyyeh,” by the late ash-Shaikh Abdur-Rahman al-Afriqi, in which he exposed the deviant tenets of the al-Tijaaniyyah Order, along with many other relevant works of different descents.

This book is presented to Muslims in pursuance of the aims and objectives to help Muslims understand the Qur’an and the Sunnah as they were understood by as-Salaf as-Salih (the companions of the Prophet) and those who adhere to their methodology, and to expose, on the other hand, all forms of bid’ah (innovations) in matters of religion, so that the Muslims may follow the straight path of Allah and disregard the deviant ways, sects and orders that have no share in Islam.[gn_spacer size=”5″]
