Towards Understanding Of Tadmuriyyah – Ibn Taymiyyah & Ibn Uthaymin

    About This Book

This is an introductory book that discusses Risalah at Tadmouriyyah which is ultimately the answer Ibn Taymiyyah provided to the students of the city of Tadmur in Shaam, on the names and attributes of Allah, and the aspects of the Divine Decree and Legislation.

Yet this Risalah is complex and intended for advanced students, this is why Al-Sheikh Uthaymin’s (this) book helps to understand the context and issues of the book of Ibn Taymiyyah and familiarize students with topics. This book is known as ‘Taqrib At Tadmuriyyah’ or ‘towards understanding of Tadmuriyyah’.

    2. Nubuwat – the functions of prophethood and that which is associated with them.
    3. Sam’iyat – which relates to what the Prophet informed about, such as the resurrection after death, the gathering, the bridge across the fire [sirat], paradise and hellfire.

Tawheed the foremost, O Callers to Islam !

What we see today is that many of the modern Dua’t have failed to realize this fact that a proper methodology (Manhaj) is mandatory for dawah, that is the ‘Call to Tawheed’ mentioned in the Qur’an and the authentic Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alehe Wassalam. Some of them after getting fame, and crowded audience have gone to such extent that they have rejected the methodology of Calling to Saheeh Aqeedah by Scholars as something fabricated with no evidence from Qur’an, Hadeeth and Salaf As Saliheen. Hence, in doing so, these so-called Du’at have rejected all the important work done by the pious predecessors in clarifying the Saheeh Aqeedah for Ummah, those pious predecessors to whom they have no comparison at all in the first place.

We say to these so-called Dua’t to fear Allaah, and revisit their Islamic Knowledge. We ask them to find us a word of “Saheeh hadeeth” or “Hasan Hadeeth”, or the word “Tafseer” in Quran and authentic Sunnah, or else stop their spread of false methodolody by corrupting the brains and hearts of Ummah, and making them negligent of the Aqeedah. The word “Aqeedah” is a tool to categorise the true manhaj by making things easy for the Ummah to understand, it’s not an invention, similiar to the Mustalah Al-Hadeeth which makes the ‘Ilm of Hadeeth easy to understand. And there are many examples to refute this false claim.

We also invite them to the true Manhaj of Dawah, by saying “O Callers to Islam, take heed and make the call to Tawheed of Allaah in his Lordship, His names and attributes and his worship, the foremost” as it was advised by Rasool Allaah and his companions and the pious predecessors who followed their way.

At the same time, we also call our brothers and sisters in Islam to seek the true Manhaj of Islam, the comprehension of the meaning of Laa Ilaha Illallaaah and learn the Aqeedah as top priority besides other sciences of Islam.

This Risala was a detailed answer given by Sheikh Al-Muhaddith Nasir uddin Albani (May Allaah have mercy upon him) when he was asked a question as what is the methodolody for muslims to acquire success in all forms and shapes in this world and in the hereafter. In doing so, which Manhaj of Islam that the dua’t should adapt that brought success to our predecessors in past.

    The Belief of Ahlu’l-Sunnah Wa’l-Jama’ah

By Imam Abu Muhammad Abdullah Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani

With Commentary of Shaikh Ahmad ibn Yahya Al-Najmi

    Accompanying Arabic Text

This is the translation of Muqaddimah Al-Risalah ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani by Imam Abu Muhammad Abdullah Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani (310-389 AH), with commentary of Shaikh Ahmad ibn Yahya Al-Najmi (d. 1429 AH) and the accompanying Arabic text. The author was asked to write a short treatise on the fundamentals of belief and creed of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah. This work was written in response to that request, wherein the author explains the obligatory aspects of Islam, those that should be pronounced by the tongue, believed in the heart, acted upon the limbs and acts of Sunnah related to the foundations of faith.

This detailed work covers many aspects of faith, jurisprudence and character. It commences with belief in Allah, His Names and Attributes and the applied principles in understanding them. It also discusses the Quran, seeing Allah, punishment of the grave and events that will occur therein, the Divine Decree, companions of Allah’s messenger and other important aspects of faith. He calls to following the way of the Salaf and adhering to the knowledge and guidance they left for the community. Creed is not just mere code of belief but it has a practical role, which translates into qualities, characteristics and actions that every Muslim must adhere to and accompany. When writing this tract the author has kept the young and mature in mind, hence keeping the work very simple to read and understand – placing it ideally as an educational textbook. Knowing the creed of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaah is compulsory for every Muslim, learning and memorizing it is also an important aspect of this pristine faith.

    About the Author

Imam Ibn Abi Zayd Al-Qayrawani was a leading imam and an Islamic scholar from North Africa. He was an exegete and a jurist who was known as ‘little Malik’ because of his vast knowledge and expertise in the Maliki school of fiqh. He authored over thirty works on various Islamic disciplines. He was very pious, deeply religious and steadfast in his adherence to the Sunnah.

    Imam al-Dhahabi said of him:

    [gn_quote]

He, may Allah have mercy on him, was upon the way of the pious predecessors concerning the fundamentals of Islam.

    Compiled by: Shawana A. Aziz

Sheikh Saleh al-Fawzan writes in Mujmal Aqeedah as-Salaf:

[gn_quote]Many groups have been misled in their understanding of Qadar (Predestination/Divine Decree). From them are the Jahmiyah and the Jabriyah who claim that the slave is forced in his actions and he has no control, ability or will. He is like a feather or a leaf which is blown by the wind.

Another group went to the other extreme and declared that every man creates his own actions. Allah has no will or control in the slave’s action. The slave performs his actions by his choice and power that is independent of the Will of Allah. Some of them exaggerated to the extent that they said that Allah does not know the thing before it occurs…

The first group (Jabriyah) affirmed the Divine Decree and exaggerated (in their affirmation of Allah’s Will) and thus robbed the slave from his will.

The second group (Qadariyah) exaggerated in (their affirmation of) the slave’s will until they denied the Will and Decree of Allah.

Both these groups are greatly mistaken and misguided.

The Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jama’ah is on the middle path – they affirm ability, choice and will for the slave but it is subservient to the Will and Power of Allah and the slave cannot do anything except by the Will of Allah.

    [/gn_quote]

This booklet gives the reader a thorough understanding of how the will, choice and ability of the slave are subservient to the Will and Power of Allah in the words of the noble Shaikh Muhammad ibn Saleh al-Uthaimeen (rahimahullah)

Apart from explaining what it means to believe in the Divine Decree, the Sheikh has expansively clarified important issues related to the subject, like Allah’s Will for the occurrence of Kufr despite His Hatred for it.

Explanation of additional issues like – the sinner’s justification by predestination, Is it obligatory upon us to be pleased with what has been decreed? – make the book more comprehensive and beneficial for the reader.

We ask Allah to forgive our mistakes and make us amongst those who are patient and pleased with the Decree of Allah. Ameen.

    Author: Ibn Katheer

This book is an extract from Ibn Kathir’s book called “Al Bidayah Wa Al Nihayah” (The beginning and the ending). This book is an authoritative source on a matter of central importance to everyone: the events of the here-after. The work is by Ibn Kathir, an eminent Islamic scholar and is based entirely upon authentic Islamic texts and sources. According to many of prophet’s sayings, he described the condition in which people would live in those times. Some of the developments foretold by the Prophet (SAWS) have already come to pass. This book summarizes those and others in more detail.

    Author: Sheikh Muhammed Salih Al-Munajjid

In this book, Sheikh Salih has outlined the symptoms, causes and the solutions of weakness of one’s Eeman in a beautiful concise manner.

[gn_note note_color=”#a4a195″]When we say faith, it is ‘Eeman’ though ‘faith’ is not correctly translated to Eeman. So Faith (Eeman) to us, AhluSunnah here means testification of the tongue, belief in the heart, actions of the limbs,  and actions of the heart. Leaving any one of these components that constitutes ‘Eeman’ makes it void and null.[/gn_note]

The phenomenon of weak faith (Eeman) has become very widespread among Muslims, and many people complain about the hardness of their hearts. So often we hear the words, “I feel hardness in my heart,”I do not find any joy in worship,” “I feel that my faith has hit rock bottom,” “Reading Qur’aan does not move me,” “I fall into sin so easily.” The effects of this affliction can be seen in many people, and this problem is the cause of every disaster and adversity.

    Author: Muhammad Mustafa Al-Jibaly

    Word from the Author:

    Al-Barzakh

Death is the ultimate reality that no human being can escape. It forces everyone to realize the worthlessness of this worldly life and the necessity to prepare for the permanent abode in the next one. It awes people and challenges all of their false claims and deviant beliefs. It puts an end to their hopes for prosperity in this life. It transferes them to an intermediate stage of living totally different from the life in this world. Once there, they have no way of returning to this life. As Allah says:

    [gn_quote]

Until, when death comes to one of them (those joins partners with Allah), he says “My Lord! Send be back. Perhaps I may do good in that which i have left behind!” No! It is but a word that he speaks, and behind them is a barzakh (barrier) until the day when they are raised up.

    [Sural -Al-Mu’minoon, verses 99-100][/gn_quote]

The purpose of this book is to cover the details of this intermediate life in al-Barzakh. The discussion is only based on authentic texts from Allah’s book and His Messenger’s Sunnah. It totally avoids unfounded presumptions and speculations that people have accumulated in various cultures and societies.

In addition to the subjects usually discussed when dealing witht he study of al-Barzakh, we include in this book material covering subjects that, we believe, are highly relevant. Among these is “Communication with Al-Barzakh (chapter 10)” and “Things that benefot the Dead (Chapter 11)”. Other material, which is believed to be relevant but not to the same degree, is included in the other parts of this series (The Inevitable Journey).

Whereas we make no claim to encompassing all authentic texts related to this subject, we have made a serious attempt to cover all authentic incidents and help form to complete a picture of that stage of life as possible.

Our hope is to provide with this an important reference that will help people gain a clear understanding of that inevitable stage of life and, therefore, help them prepare themselves for it.

We have attempted to present the material in a highly structured and organized manner, introducing tables as much as possible, in order to enable using the book as a classroom or study circle reference.

This booklet is a translation of ‘Faith in Allah’ from the book, Sharh Hadeeth Jibra’eel’ by Shaikh ibn Saleh al-Uthaimeen with additional quotes from Aqeedah at-Tawheed’ and ‘Mujmal Aqeedah as-Salaf’ by Shaikh Salih ibn Fawzan ibn Abdullah al-Fawzan.

Translated and Compiled by:  Shawana A. Aziz

Aqeedah is Tawqeefiyah (which means that) beliefs cannot be established except with a proof from the Sharee’ah (religious texts) – there is no room for opinion and speculation. The sources of Aqeedah are therefore restricted to what is mentioned
in the Book of Allah and the Sunnah (Ahadeeth of the Prophet) because no one is more knowledgeable than Allah about the obligations due to Him and what He is free from – and after Allah – no one knows more about Allah other than His messenger (sallallahu alehe wassalam).

The correct Aqeedah is the foundation upon which the religion is based. It is the correct Aqeedah with which the actions are set aright as the Most High said:

    [gn_quote]

So, whoever hopes for the meeting with his Lord, let him work righteousness and associate none as a partner in the worship of his Lord.

    [Soorah al-Kahf (18): 110][/gn_quote]

    [gn_quote]

Indeed, it has been revealed to you (O Muhammad ) as it was to those (Prophets) before you, ‘If you join others in worship with Allah, (then) surely (all) your deeds will be in vain, and you will certainly be among the losers.

    [Soorah az-Zumar (39): 65][/gn_quote]

    [gn_quote]

So, worship Allah (alone) by performing religious deeds sincerely for His sake. Surely, the religion is for Allah only.
